Robert McNail of Herculaneum said his 5-year-old dog, Sammy, can be kind of a ditz. He believes Sammy, a rescue dog, is a redbone coonhound.
“He’s just a goofball,” McNail said. “He’s a great guy. He’s kind of got the personality of a lab. He’s very good natured.”
One reason that McNail describes his dog in this way is Sammy does not realize how big he is, he said.
“He’s 104 pounds and will sit in my lap in the recliner,” he said.

“I was just watching him sitting in the sun, taking in all of the scents in the air,” he said.
He said Sammy likes to go on trips.
“He’s a camper,” he said. “We have an RV and he goes on all of our trips.”
