Ed Bohnert's dog, Rosie, uses this machine to dispense food for herself and another family dog.

Ed Bohnert of Arnold says his dog, Rosie, a toy poodle, is not only smart but also generous. She has figured out how to operate a Yuppy Puppy Treat Machine at the Bohnert family home and uses it to get food for herself and the family’s other dog, Annie.

“She (Rosie) pulls down on the bone handle to dispense dog food or dog treats,” Bohnert said. “She learned how to pull it down by herself. We have to keep it covered to stop her from emptying it.”

This photo of Rosie getting food from the machine was taken about five years ago.

Rosie is 8 now.

“We’ve got a little Yorkie, too, Annie,” Bohnert said. “She’ll feed the Yorkie.”

Bohnert said Rosie is good-natured.

“She’s a very nice little dog,” he said. “She’s a lap dog. She’s very fond of my wife, Judy. Wherever Judy goes, Rosie wants to be there.”

He said Rosie also likes to look at images of other dogs.

“She likes to watch television and to see dogs on iPads,” he said.
