Chris and Faye Kimmel and their pooch, Duke, live in Arcadia, but come to Jefferson County on a regular basis.
“We visit family in Jefferson County quite a lot,” Chris said. “They’re in De Soto.”
Duke is actually the nickname of their 2-year-old red-nosed pit bull, the Kimmels said.
“His actual name is John Wayne, who was known as ‘Duke,’” Chris said.
Faye said Duke, a rescue dog, enjoys moving about, but also has other interests.
“He likes to go swimming,” she said. “He likes car rides. He loves stuffies, which are toys with squeakers inside. He loves a Kong treat ball. That’s a ball where you put a treat inside and he gets it out.”
Duke has a friendly personality, she said.
“He’s a very good-natured dog. He’s very friendly with other people. He has a best friend, our other dog, Olaf, a Chihuahua and pug mix.”
