We took this photo of our English mastiffs on our bed in 2009. Closest to the headboard, and partly hidden, was Oscar. Ralphie was hanging off the bed, and Annie was facing the camera. Annie died later that year and the other two died in 2010.
When they were with us, they’d hop on our bed all the time. At night, they’d stretch out and make themselves comfortable, barely leaving room for us. They’d take the middle of the bed, and we had to sleep on the edges.
We’ve had mastiffs for 30 years. The last one died two months ago. Her name was Twinkles, and she weighed 210 pounds.
I like everything about mastiffs. They have such big personalities. But, we’re getting too old to have mastiffs now.
We still have rescue dogs – two little Shih Tzus, a Cockapoo, a Great Pyrenees and German shepherd mix and mixed-breed dog.
