Janet Seachrist of Festus sent in this photo of the late Lucie, who looked after the family.

Janet Seachrist of Festus said Lucie, a black Labrador retriever, brightened her family’s days.

Lucie, who died in June, belonged to Seachrist’s granddaughter, Abigail Seachrist.

“Lucie was special to my family,” Janet Seachrist said. “She loved my two granddaughters. She was very friendly.”

Seachrist said Lucie looked out for the family’s young ones.

“She was loving,” Seachrist said. “She was part of the family and adored the kids. She’d check on the kids. She thought they were her kids. She was a mama dog.”

Lucie had charm, Seachrist said.

“She’d roll on her back and smile if the thought she was getting in trouble. She could say, ‘I love you,’ when she wanted a treat.”
