Tami Jansen of Festus says her 2-year-old dachshund, Phoebe, is a lively pet.
“She’s pretty feisty,” Jansen said. “She’s very playful. We nicknamed her ‘Fabulous Phoebe’ because of her attitude. She’s pretty stubborn, but she’s a lot of fun.”
Phoebe can startle herself, Jansen said.
“She will chew her bones down to where they’ll scare her,” Jansen said. “The prickly parts stick her.”
Jansen said she also has a 15-year-old dachshund named Lucy, and the two dogs have a complicated friendship.
“It’s a love-hate relationship,” Jansen said. “Sometimes they get along, sometimes not.”
Jansen said she likes the dachshund breed.
“Dachshunds are my favorite breed because they have lots of personality,” she said. “They’re a lot of fun.”
