Dana Marie, a 7-year-old Australian shepherd-poodle mix, had just caught her first mole of the season in March when owner David Boyher of Eureka snapped the photo.
“She pounced at the sound and came up with her prize,” he said. “She was so proud she carried it around for half an hour before I could trade her a treat for it. Since then, she’s gotten two more. She’s always listening to the ground for any scurrying.”
Dana Marie weighs about 55 pounds, but wants to jump onto Boyher’s lap, nevertheless.
“She loves to lay on laps,” he said. “She’s a big lapdog.”
He said Dana Marie has a pleasant personality.
“She’s very friendly,” he said.
