Audrey Rannebarger’s pet goat Mable made her owner smile.
“It was like having a puppy,” said Rannebarger of Crystal City. “She followed me around. She was awesome.”
Rannebarger said she was so close to Mable she would share her drinks with the goat.
“She wound up loving ice tea, which is what I drank,” Rannebarger said. “She drank out of my cup.”
This photo of Mable was taken in 2002 when the family lived on several acres in Richwoods.
“My girlfriend had gone to an auction in Potosi and saw her,” Rannebarger said. “They felt sorry for her because she was older and probably nobody would bid on her. They bought her and gave her to me.”
Sadly, Mable died in 2006 after being bitten by a snake.
“She’s very missed,” Rannebarger said.
