Jim and Judy Davis of Arnold submitted a program from the retirement ceremony of their son, Marine Corps Master Sgt. James Wesley “Wes” Davis.
Davis graduated from Fox High School in 1996 and served in the Marine Corps from February 1997 to May 2018. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and deployed to Korea in support of Operation Team Spirit and to Thailand in support of Operation Cobra Gold.
He also participated in Operations Robin Sage and Enduring Freedom.
In 2008, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant. In January 2012 he was reassigned to the Operations, Training and Evaluation branch where he was responsible for five emergency action teams within the National Military Command Center. In October 2013, Gunnery Sgt. Davis was selected by his commanding general to deploy to Amman, Jordan, to serve as liaison officer at the U.S. Embassy in support of the Jordanian Armed Forces deploying to Afghanistan. While there, he was promoted to the rank of master sergeant.
In March 2016, he was transferred to 2nd Battalion 10th Marine Regiment where he served as battalion communication chief.
Master Sgt. Davis’ personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various other service and campaign medals.
