For those who love and crave chocolate, there’s no such thing as too much chocolate. So this recipe for a soft and chewy cookie with big chunks of chocolate that melt in your mouth is a chocolate lover’s dream.
Not only are the cookies delicious but also they are quick and easy to make. The recipe makes enough cookies to fill your cookie jar, with maybe a few left over to munch on during cleanup.
If you prefer white chocolate, you can substitute white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. You can even use milk chocolate chips if you prefer a sweeter taste.

CHOCOLATE LOVER’S DREAM COOKIES
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup chunky chocolate chips
1 cup semi-sweet, milk chocolate OR white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Additional white sugar for garnish
In a large bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, butter, shortening and beaten eggs.
In another bowl, whisk remaining dry ingredients together, except chocolate chips, additional sugar and nuts, if used.
Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and combine until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts and mix until all is combined.
Form dough into 1-inch balls; roll in the additional white sugar and place on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
