Extra recipe to accompany story, “Crazy About Quilting,” published 7-11-2013
Cake:
1 German chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup flaked coconut
5 tablespoons butter
1 egg
Topping:
2 packages cream cheese (8 ounce packages)
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix cake ingredients to form a crust and spread in a 9-by-12-inch pan.
Mix topping ingredients until smooth and spread on top of the cake mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
When cool, top with a layer of Cool Whip.
