As of this morning (March 24), “everyone in the state of Missouri (is ordered) to follow social-distancing measures,” the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported.
Gov. Mike Parson announced this morning that he directed DHSS director Dr. Randall Williams to use his authority to issue the order, which went into effect at 12:01 a.m.
The order remains in effect until 12:01 a.m. Monday, April 6, unless extended by further order.
According to the order, Missouri residents should avoid gatherings of more than 10 people; avoid dine-in services at restaurants, bars or other similar establishments; and avoid visiting nursing homes, long-term care facilities, retirement homes and assisted living homes.
Also, schools will remain closed during the duration of the order.
The order is “in accordance with the guidelines from the President of the United States and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” DHSS reported.
Jefferson County issued a more restrictive stay-at-home order Monday. It also took effect today, but it remains in effect until 11:59 p.m. April 23, unless it is rescinded or extended.
