Festus-Crystal City Elks officials announced this afternoon (Aug. 25) that their lodge was to close for two weeks for “deep cleaning” after some members tested positive for COVID-19.
The lodge is at 4 Elks Club in Crystal City.
No one could be reached at the lodge today.
However, a message posted on the lodge’s Facebook page on Sunday (Aug. 23) said “some of our members” had tested positive for the virus.
According to another Facebook post, the lodge will be closed for 14 days starting today, other than for a few, select activities.
“All functions of the lodge will temporarily cease (including meetings, office activity, etc.), with the exception of those activities vital to the functioning of the lodge,” the post said.
Representatives for the lodge’s Hall Committee will contact any groups that have reservations to use the halls and pavilions between now and September 7, the post said.
The lodge posted on Monday (Aug. 24) that a Jonathan Braddy Band concert scheduled for Sept. 11 at the lodge Club Room had been canceled.
