De Soto Home Show 2019

Tara Drennen, Angie Perez and Jennifer Jones with the Jones Group took part in the 2019 De Soto Home Show.

The 2020 De Soto Home Show has been postponed indefinitely because of the coronavirus.

The event, sponsored by the De Soto Chamber of Commerce, had been scheduled for Saturday, April 4, at De Soto High School, but it will be rescheduled once the current stay-at-home order is lifted.

“We don’t know when our board will even be able to meet to discuss it,” chamber office coordinator Sarah Greenlee said today (March 27). “The thing is, until the school goes back in session, they can’t even give us a date. So we are kind of just in a waiting game right now.”

All the county’s public school districts are closed at least until April 27 because of the pandemic.

The decision to postpone rather than cancel was an economic one, Greenlee said.

“We definitely will want to reschedule. It’s a pretty significant part of our income,” she said. “Everything takes money, and we don’t get money from any source besides memberships and our events.”

Once public gatherings are again allowed, chamber officials hope to see a good turnout.

“Hopefully, we can find a date that will work for most of the vendors, and people will be ready to get out and about,” Greenlee said. “Right now, we’re just waiting it out.”
