Comtrea will offer free COVID-19 testing to any Missouri resident on New Year’s Eve.

The testing will be from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday (Dec. 31) at First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road.

“With schools coming back and the holidays, the need (for testing) is going to intensify,” said Lisa Rothweiler, chief operating officer at Comtrea, which offers health services around the county.

Pre-registration is “highly encouraged" for the drive-thru testing event. However, those who register are not given a set time to show up, Rothweiler said.

At the event, there will be three drive-thru lines. Two of the lines will be for pre-registered people, and one line will for people who are not pre-registered, she said.

“It just might take a little longer for those individuals (who did not register),” she said.

Rothweiler said Comtrea staff will do the testing.

“It’s all hands on deck right now trying to meet the need,” she said. “I am going to be there helping with registration.”

The cost of the testing event will be covered with CARES Act funding, Rothweiler said.

She said people may register at health.mo.gov/communitytest or at comtrea.org under the COVID tab.

Rothweiler said Comtrea also will host a testing event every Friday in January, but the times and locations have not yet been set.
