Like daylight saving time, Schnucks grocery store operating hours soon will spring forward. Schnucks Markets Inc. announced that most of its stores will remain open an hour later beginning Monday, March 14, reversing a cutback in operating hours that began in October.

Schnucks announced today, March 11, that 103 of its stores will be open until 10 p.m.

The company also said the deli, meat and seafood department service counters in most stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and others will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Customers may verify store operating and service department hours on the Schnucks website, nourish.schnucks.com.

Jefferson County has four Schnucks stores. Two are in Arnold, at 1253 Jeffco Blvd. and at 3900 Vogel Road; another is at 20 Gravois Dillon Plaza Drive in High Ridge; and one is at 1181 W. Gannon Drive in Festus.

The grocer also has a store at 45 Gravois Bluffs Plaza Drive in Fenton and another one at 245 E. Fifth St. in Eureka.

Store officials said they decided to expand hours because of daylight saving time, which begins Sunday, March 13, with clocks moving forward one hour.

“We know that as the days become longer and families begin to have more spring and summer activities, we’ll see the volume of shoppers return later in the evening,” said Ted Schnuck, executive vice president of supermarkets. “With the return to a 10 p.m. close, along with longer service department hours for deli, meat and seafood, we are ensuring that we meet our customers’ needs with more options to shop for the products they love.”

In October, nearly all of the company’s stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin started operating between 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The deli, meat and seafood department service counters’ hours were reduced to 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Stores in St. Louis’ Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood, Spanish Lake and Cahokia will maintain the hours established in October.

Schnucks will hold a companywide career fair across all 111 stores and the bakery plant in Vinita Park from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, March 31, a news release said.

Schnucks also announced all stores will close for Easter on Sunday, April 17. Stores will reopen the next day.
