A Pretzel Pretzel shop is coming to Crystal City.

The new shop will be at 201 N. Truman Blvd. and will offer a variety of pretzel products.

“Our target to open is Oct. 30,” said Jamie Scurlock, who is starting the business with his wife, Rene.

Normal business hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, and while the business normally will be closed on Mondays, if the shop gets approval to open in time, the Scurlocks intend to sell their wares on Halloween, Oct. 31, Jamie said.

This will be the first time the Scurlocks will own and operate their own business, and their shop is connected to the Pretzel Pretzel business in St. Louis.

“It’s the original salted soft pretzels,” he said. “Who doesn’t like pretzels?”

The Pretzel Pretzel menu features many kinds of pretzels and other items, the Scurlocks said.

“There will be the original pretzel nuggets,” Rene said. “There are cinnamon sugar pretzels, garlic parmesan pretzels. We have pretzel hot dogs, pretzel brats. Our newest and best thing yet are mini pretzel hot dogs. We also have a pretzel pepperoni pizza melt.

“We have the original cheese sauce and several types of mustard. There will be bottled soft drinks, Pepsi products.”

Pretzel Pretzel also will offer specialty pretzels.

“We do special designs, like a Cardinals’ logo on a pretzel for a birthday party,” Rene said. “We do party trays.”

Much of the business is take-out, but there will be some space for dining inside the establishment.

“It will seat five to seven,” Jamie added.

Delivery is available on a limited basis, Rene said. She said the business will open with eight to 12 people, including the two owners. Rene, 41, and Jamie, 40, who live in Pevely, said they wanted to open a business close to their home.

“We wanted to be in our own community,” Rene said. “Our kids have grown up here. We’re just excited. Working with Crystal City has been great.”

Jamie’s cousin, Amber Scurlock, originated Pretzel Pretzel, he said.

“My cousin started Pretzel Pretzel with Anthony Simmons,” he said. “Pretzel Pretzel started in 2017.”
