Customers have begun to take notice of MasterTech Autoglass, said Amanda Kerley, who along with her husband, Steve, owns the new business in Crystal City.

MasterTech Autoglass, 104 Twin City Mall, opened June 22.

“Today, we had more walk-ins than we’ve had so far,” Amanda said July 6. “People are starting to find us.”

This is the first time Amanda, 38, and Steve, 41, have had their own business.

“This is our only location,” Amanda said. “It is a start-up. We come from 20 years at a similar company.

“We offer auto glass repair, auto glass replacement and camera recalibration,” she said. “There are entire safety systems in some cars, such as forward collision alerts, lane departure warning systems and adaptive cruise control. The bracket that holds the camera is attached to the windshield. When the window is replaced, the camera needs to be recalibrated.”

Amanda, who runs the office, said the business is starting with a small staff.

“We have three on staff – my husband, myself and one other person,” Amanda said. “As we grow, we’ll add more staff.”

She said the staff is well trained.

“We decided on the name MasterTech Autoglass because every technician we will have can work on any vehicle, new or old,” she said. “We focus on safety and quality.”

Amanda said a common question she hears from customers is when should a windshield be replaced, as opposed to repaired.

“We can do a repair on a windshield with cracks up to 4 or 5 inches,” Amanda said. “After that, it needs to be replaced.”

She said she and her husband, who live with their two daughters in Imperial, like the Twin City Mall location where they opened their business.

They rent the building, which previously housed an auto repair and tire sales business.

“The one thing is, we wanted to be a midway point for people who want recalibration, because there are not that many companies that offer recalibration this far south from St. Louis,” Amanda said. “Also, we felt like the building is in a good location and we are excited to be a part of the community down here.”

MasterTech Autoglass is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with service by appointment on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.
