The Festus Shop ‘n Save store closed today (Oct. 19) and is scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 21) as a Schnucks store, the company reported.
Schnucks has announced switchover dates for the final 10 of the 19 area Shop 'n Save stores it is acquiring.
The Festus Shop ‘n Save, 1275 N. Truman Blvd., will be the second Schnucks store in Festus, joining an existing one at 1181 W. Gannon Drive.
The new Festus Schnucks store will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Both the Festus Schnucks stores have pharmacies. During the time the North Truman store is closed for the transition, its pharmacy customers will still be able to drop off and pick up prescriptions during normal pharmacy hours. Customers are asked to check in with store security, who will escort them to the pharmacy.
Schnucks also bought the former Shop ‘n Save stores in Fenton (45 Gravois Bluffs Plaza Drive) and Arnold (1253 Water Tower Place), and they were converted and reopened as Schnucks stores last week.
“We’ve seen with all our first round of openings that customers are eager to return to their neighborhood stores as quickly as possible, and we’re just as eager to welcome them to Schnucks,” said Dave Peacock, Schnucks president and chief operating officer.
More “significant remodeling” will be completed later, company officials said.
A handful of Shop 'n Save stores that Schnucks is acquiring have fuel center, including the Festus store, and Schnucks is taking those over as well, the company reported.
Schnucks officials are continuing to evaluate “operational requirements for all acquired fuel centers,” a company spokesman said.
Schnucks is not buying the High Ridge Shop 'n Save store, 1023 Crossroads Place. However, the store’s prescription files are being transferred to the nearby Schnucks store at 20 Dillon Plaza, in High Ridge.
Unless a buyer is found for the High Ridge Shop 'n Save store, it will close, a spokesman for one of the unions representing Shop ’n Save employees said.
