A Burkes Outlet and Home Centric store is coming to Crystal City.

The store, a combination of a Burkes Outlet, which sells clothing and home décor, and Home Centric, which specializes in home decor, will be housed in the building where a Gordman’s store used to operate in the Twin City Mall.

The store, slated for 110 Twin City Drive, is expected to open in the fall, said Laura Jones, spokeswoman for R.L. Jones Properties, the owner of the mall.

She said Burkes Outlet and Home Centric typically operate in separate stores, but this store will combine both in a 30,300-square-foot space.

The parent company for both is Bealls Inc., according to their websites.

Jones said the company primarily has stores in the southeastern part of the country but have begun to expand to other regions

She said the Crystal City Burkes Outlet/Home Centric combo store will be the first in the St. Louis area.

Jones said other vacant spaces at the Twin City Mall, which used to house a Kmart store, are in the process of being filled.

A Harbor Freight store previously opened in part of the space where the Kmart store used to be, and the rest of that space is under contract, Jones said.

“The names are not being released as yet, but three national retailers will fill out the rest of that space.”

Crystal City Mayor Tom Schilly said the all the new businesses are welcome.

“It’s good news,” Schilly said. “We’ve been working on this for quite a while, a couple of years. I’m really pleased with it for the future of Crystal City.”
