Arnold Shop n Save

The Arnold Shop 'n Save is slated to become a Schnucks on Oct. 14.

The Fenton Shop 'n Save store will switch to a Schnucks store on Oct. 12, and the Arnold Shop 'n Save store will become a Schnucks on Oct. 14, Schnucks Markets Inc. announced today (Oct. 5).

The company announced switchover dates for nine of the 19 area Shop 'n Save locations it is acquiring.

The Festus Shop 'n Save that Schnucks is acquiring will be on an upcoming list, Schnucks spokeswoman Schron Jackson said.

All of the switchovers are to be completed by the end of October.

Before the Fenton and Arnold Shop 'n Save stores open as Schnucks stores, they will be closed for about two and a half days while remodeling is completed.

So, the Fenton store, and 45 Gravois Bluff, will close on Oct. 9 and open as a Schnucks at 9 a.m. Oct. 12, and the Arnold store, 1253 Water Tower Place, will close on Oct. 11 and open at 9 a.m. Oct. 14.

More “significant remodeling” is scheduled for the near future, company officials said. “We know that customers want to quickly return to their neighborhood store to shop for their families, so our teams will be working around the clock to transition these stores in a period of just 63 hours each, and we’ll focus on more extensive upgrades in the coming months,” said Dave Peacock, Schnucks president and chief operating officer.

During the time the stores are closed, their pharmacy customers will still be able to drop off and pick up prescriptions between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Pharmacy customers are asked to check in with store security, who will escort the customers to the pharmacy. The Fenton location offers a drive-through pharmacy, Schnucks officials said.

When the switchovers are complete, there will be two Schnucks stores in Arnold and Festus, Schnucks officials said.

The Fenton, Arnold and Festus Shop 'n Save stores all include a pharmacy, and Schnucks is acquiring those, too.

Schnucks is not buying the High Ridge Shop 'n Save store, 1023 Crossroads Place. However, the store’s prescription files are being transferred to the nearby Schnucks store at 20 Dillon Plaza, in High Ridge.

Unless a buyer is found for the High Ridge Shop 'n Save store, it will close, a spokesman for one of the unions representing Shop ‘n Save employees said Sept. 21.

The Festus Shop 'n Save store, 1275 N. Truman Blvd., includes a fuel center, which Schnucks is also acquiring.
