The fourth episode of Eureka native Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor” included more discussion about shrimp, a trip to Texas and a tackle football game.
The show started with Clayton sitting down with Elizabeth and Shanae to try to get the real story behind what happened with all the shrimp in the third episode.
I think Jill summed it up perfectly by saying she “lost brain cells listening to shrimp-gate.”
Honestly, I will always have a little giggle when I see shrimp from now on.
Clayton canceled the cocktail party typically held for the women and the bachelor to have one-on-one time and instead moved straight into the rose ceremony. He decided to send Elizabeth, Kira and Melina home.
I was kind of sad Clayton did not send the main characters involved in “shrimp-gate” packing.
Since 37 minutes of the two-hour episode were mostly spent yelling about shrimp, I was happy to see host Jesse Palmer tell the women they were leaving the Bachelor Mansion in Los Angeles and going to Houston, Texas.
Rachel got the first one-on-one date in Texas and went horseback riding with Clayton, who compared it to a typical Saturday in Missouri.
He and Rachel rode to a random family’s barbecue and decided to join in before sharing a romantic dinner and then dancing while the country band Restless Road performed. Clayton ended the night by giving Rachel a rose, which will keep her safe from being sent home in the next round of eliminations.
The group date during the episode started with a tailgate party outside the Houston Texans football stadium followed by a tackle football game. The women were put on two teams, the Shrimp Stampede and the Purple Punishers. Can you guess which team Shanae was on?
If I were a contestant on the show, I would have sent myself home during that group date because I would never tackle another woman for a man’s attention. However, the women seemed to have no issue slamming into each other. The Purple Punishers prevailed 21-0. To be fair, the Purple Punishers had an edge because Marlene, a former Olympian, was on the squad.
The women on the purple team moved on to an after party, and the women from the shrimp team were sent back to the hotel.
Sierra and Genevieve used their one-on-one with Clayton during the party to tell him how horrible Shanae was treating everyone.
Shanae crashed the party to spend time with Clayton, who asked her about all the accusations the other women made about her. Shanae’s explanation must have been perfect as the episode ended with the two making out before she stormed back to the party, grabbed the trophy from the football game and threw it into nearby shrubbery.
I really hope to see Clayton wise up and send Shanae home, but sadly because of the promo, we know she is sticking around for a while.
However, Clayton seems to be seeing Shanae for who she is, posting a message today (Feb. 1) on Twitter apologizing to Elizabeth for choosing to keep Shanae on the show.
My favorites remain unchanged. They are Marlena, Susie and Teddi. Who are your top three picks? Go vote in our poll and tell us who you want to see as Clayton’s final three.
