A 19-year-old House Springs man and a 17-year-old Fenton man were arrested Oct. 26 for allegedly attempting to steal about $2,000 worth of scrap metal and mechanical parts from a property on Gravois Road in House Springs, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The property owner got a call about 12:30 a.m. that someone was removing items from his property, so he called 911 and deputies found a 2001 GMC Sierra with Illinois plates and a bed full of scrap metal and mechanical parts, the report said.
No one was with the truck, but deputies found paperwork inside identifying the owner and then found a suspect walking along Gravois Road. Then, that man told them where to find another suspect, according to the report.
Both were arrested for stealing over $500.
Charges will be sought through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.
