A car stolen in De Soto Sunday (Dec. 2) was located and a suspect was arrested Tuesday (Dec. 4) in Maplewood.
The name of the suspect, a 19-year rural De Soto man, will not be released unless he is charged.
De Soto Police Chief Ernie Paul said a woman who had been out of town returned Dec. 2 and discovered her 2005 Toyota Corolla was missing from her home in the 800 block of South Second Street.
“As our officers investigated, they learned the vehicle was reported as leaving the scene of an accident in Kirkwood,” he said. “The crash occurred between Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.”
Paul said a Maplewood officer arrested the suspect at the time he discovered the vehicle in his city.
He said his department is seeking felony stealing charges against the suspect. The suspect was released pending application of warrants, he said.
The investigation is continuing, the chief said.
