The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of about $6,950 in jewelry and cash from a home in the 7600 block of Meadowbrook Lane in Barnhart.

The victim, a 45-year-old woman, told deputies she believes a family member stole the items Nov. 10 while at her home following funeral services for her husband, the Sheriff's Office reports.

The husband's funeral was held that day and then family members were at the woman's home afterward, the report said

A 19-year-old St. Louis woman is a suspect in the theft, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff's Office.

The woman said a family member had called telling her that the suspect stole the items, according to the report.

No arrests had been made as of Monday (Nov. 26), Arnhart said.

The stolen items included $600 in cash; a gold, diamond and tanzanite ring; a mother's ring; a heart pendant necklace; a men's gold band; and a necklace with a No. 1 Mom pendant, the report said.
