Pacific man gets 8 years after guilty plea to child molestation

Sean Michael Costello, 22, of Pacific has been sentenced to eight years in prison for child molestation, court documents show.

Between Aug. 1, 2011, and Feb. 2, 2012, Costello fondled a girl, who now is 10 years old, the probable cause statement said.

The molestation occurred at the girl’s home in House Springs, the report said.

Costello pleaded guilty to two counts of child molestation in the first degree and was sentenced Feb. 11 by Jefferson County Div. 2 Circuit Judge Gary P. Kramer to two eight-year terms, to be served concurrently, or at the same time, according to the report.

However, Costello may be released early if he successfully completes a 120-day treatment program, court papers indicate.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Catherine A. Crowley handled the case.
