An ice cream and frozen yogurt shop is slated to open next week in the Arnold Crossroads complex at Hwy. 141 and Jeffco Boulevard in Arnold.
Also, a HotShots Sports Bar & Grill is expected to open in early June in the same development.
Polar Opposites Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt is scheduled to open Tuesday (April 24), said Dave Erger, who owns the business, along with his wife, Andrea. The two live in Imperial.
The shop is between the Starbucks and Panda Express in Arnold Crossroads and will sell both hard, hand-scooped ice cream and soft, self-serve frozen yogurt.
"That way, everyone can get what they want," Erger said.
The shop is about 1,500 square feet and will have seating for about 20, he said.
About 12 people, mostly part-timers, will work there, Erger said.
He and his wife will run it, and the other employees already have been hired, although the shop will accept applications, Erger said.
HotShots
HotShots owners Don Wilburn of Oakville and Jeff Huch of Columbia, Ill., said they're hoping to open the new bar and restaurant on June 4.
It will be housed in the space where a Tilted Kilt restaurant used to operate. Before the Tilted Kilt, a Krieger's operated there.
Minor renovation will be required before the Hot Shots can open, Wilburn said.
HotShots has eight locations in St. Louis and one in Cape Girardeau. This will be the first in Jefferson County.
The 6,910-square foot space will have seating for about 270 and will employ 30-35 people.
Applications are available online at the HotShots website at hotshotsnet.com. Go to contact and then scroll down for the application.
