Festus Post 253 shut out De Soto SMCI 10-0 on Sunday, July 8, at De Soto High in an American Legion District 13 game. Festus starting pitcher Cody Knoll improved to 4-1 on the season, going six innings and allowing only one hit while walking two and striking out seven. Alex Winkelman pitched the seventh inning and struck out the side. Chris Lamprecht led the Festus attack with three hits in four at-bats, including two doubles, and drove in two runs. De Soto starter Brenden McKeon took the loss as SMCI closed out its regular season schedule at 5-22 overall and 4-15 in the district. Festus improved to 23-4 and 10-0 in district play and has won 18 of its last 19 games. Both teams will play next week in the District 13 tournament at Yanks Field in Ste. Genevieve, starting July 16.
