Festus native Brittany Borman has qualified for the finals Sunday (July 1) in the women’s javelin at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials in Eugene, Ore. In the qualifying round on Friday (June 29), Borman’s first throw was her best at 54.50 meters (178 feet, nine inches) and that was good enough to place her fourth among the 12 qualifiers. The top three in the finals are eligible to compete on the U.S. team at the London Olympics if each meets or exceeds the Olympic qualifying “A” standard of 61 meters (200 feet, one inch).
