Authorities seek booze burglar in Dittmer; 10 bottles of liquor stolen

Ten bottles of liquor recently were stolen from a home in the 7000 block of Mindy Meadows in Dittmer, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The burglary happened between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. March 10, but was not reported until March 29.

Two bottles of Absolut vodka and two bottles of UV vodka were stolen, along with one bottle each of Jose Cuervo tequila, Jim Beam bourbon, Malibu rum, Captain Morgan rum, peppermint schnapps and watermelon schnapps, altogether valued at about $200, the report said.

The homeowner told deputies she was home and heard the basement garage door open, so she called her children to see if they had arrived home and opened it and when they told her it wasn’t them, she went downstairs and saw a strange man leaving the basement, according to the report.

The woman told deputies she didn’t report the theft until March 29 because she didn’t think they would be able to find the culprit and nothing significant was stolen, the report said.

No arrests had been made as of April 6, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.

He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
