The city of Arnold has purchased an approximately 4-acre property at 1839 Ozark Drive, which is off Church Road, for $70,000, City Administrator Matt Unrein reports.
The tract adjoins the rear, or east side, of Ferd B. Lang City Park and will become part of the park, which has a main entrance off Old Lemay Ferry Road and currently includes 25 acres.
The Ozark Drive property includes a run-down home that has been vacant for some time, Unrein said.
He said the property had belonged to the S. Stephens Family Trust, and the city closed on the purchase on April 11.
Soon, the city soon will secure the home on the property, Unrein said, boarding it up, and eventually will demolish it.
For more information on how the city will decide uses for the property and other details, see a story in the next issue of the Arnold-Imperial Leader on April 19.
