Telephone wire recently was stolen from the 2600 block of Meyer Road in the Festus area, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

It was stolen about 2 a.m. April 30, when telephone service in the area was disrupted, the report said.

Stolen was about 200 feet of 100 pair, 24-gauge wire and 400 feet of 50-pair, 24-gauge wire, worth a total of about $2,000, the report said.

The wire belonged to AT&T, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.

He said telephone wire was stolen from the same location in December.

The wire that was stolen this time was temporary wire and was lying on the ground, Arnhart said.

No arrests had been made as of May 15, he said.

Arnhart advises anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
