Meet me at the bar

Ready when you are: Cedar Hill fitness center offers flexible hours

Members of Meet Me at the Bar fitness center in Cedar Hill say they appreciate being able to easily schedule workout time, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, owner Linda Schroeder said.

“We have first responders getting off third shift, stay-at-home moms who can only go at 3 a.m.,” she said. “That 24/7 accessibility is important.”

The center, at 6773 Mall Drive next to Radeackers Market, opened in January 2019.

It closed five weeks in March and April, but the center is back open and staffed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays, with secure, after-hours access for members.

“Once the summer is over, we will go to 8-4 on Saturdays and 8-1 on Sundays,” Schroeder said.

The 6,000-square-foot facility has classroom space on one side; on the other is a full set of Hammer Strength equipment.

“This is all new, state-of-the-art equipment,” Schroeder said. “We have bikes, treadmills, steppers for cardio, then circuit training equipment and plenty of free weights.”

The facility offers personal training and a variety of classes, like yoga, boxing and boot camp-style classes.

Schroeder said cleaning protocols have been stepped up.

“We’ve always had antibacterial wipes, sanitizer in every nook and cranny, but we are trying extra hard to keep things sanitized to our standards, which are very high,” she said.

Schroeder credits members with doing their part to maintain a safe environment.

“They wipe down everything after they use it, and people are moving fluidly, with appropriate spacing,” she said.

Meet Me at the Bar offers monthly and annual memberships, with senior, first responder and military discounts.
