The sophomores connected for the game-winning touchdown in the Class 2 state semifinals against Monroe City on Nov. 28 when Eckrich, the quarterback, completed a 1-yard pass to Ray, a wide receiver, on fourth and goal with 10 seconds left in the Lancers’ 40-36 victory. Eckrich and Ray accounted for a 22-yard TD pass in the third quarter of a see-saw game that featured seven lead changes. Eckrich completed 14 of 20 passes for 241 yards and three TDs. Ray caught six passes for 124 yards and leads St. Pius with 10 TD receptions. The Lancers (9-5) play Blair Oaks (13-0) in the Show-Me Bowl in St. Joseph on Saturday.
