On the final javelin throw of his prep career, Brown launched it 60.96 meters (200 feet) to win the Class 4 state championship in Jefferson City on May 31, setting a new class record. Among those Brown surpassed was Kearney senior Theodore Grace, the defending state champion who briefly held the record at 59.75. A three-year starting quarterback for the Hawks, Brown will attend North Dakota State University to play football.
