Ava Oberle, Festus softball
After being named the JCAA player of the year and to the Class 4 all-state team in 2024, Oberle, a junior, began this season with a bang in the circle and at the plate. The Tigers finished 4-0 and won the Union Tournament Aug. 29-30. In the four games, Oberle had 10 hits in 15 at-bats (.667), two doubles, two home runs and six RBIs. Oberle pitched two complete games against Elsberry and St. Elizabeth’s high schools and struck out 12.
Logan Wilson, Windsor football
The senior starting running back/linebacker led the Owls to a 36-28 win in double overtime against visiting Herculaneum on Aug. 29. On offense, Wilson toted the ball 25 times for a game-high 173 yards and four touchdowns. In the two overtimes, Wilson scored a TD and ran in two two-point conversions. On defense, he had 17 solo tackles and was in the middle when the Blackcats were held on fourth-and-goal in OT2.
