They’re back.
The two-time defending Class 4 state champion Festus girls cross country team is deeper than its ever been and ready to attempt to threepeat this season. The Tigers won state titles in 2014 and 2017 under Bryant Wright, and in 2024 and 2025 under Wes Armbruster, who is now the head coach for the school’s boys and girls squads. The Festus boys have finished second in the state the last two years behind West Plains.
Both Festus teams open the season in a three-mile race Saturday at Civic Memorial High School in Illinois.
