At the Class 4 state track and field championships Saturday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City, the Tiger 4x100 foursome of Elsa Muellersman, Makayla DeClue, Constance Hawkins and Jahmeshia Patterson finished first in 47.91 seconds. Patterson, the anchor runner, also medaled in the 100 (third, 11.94), 200 (fourth, 24.58) and 100 hurdles (fourth, 14.46), individually accounting for 16 of her team’s 39 points. Festus finished fifth, four points shy of a team trophy.

Jacob Hartle

The sophomore right fielder was perfect at the plate in a 14-1 junior varsity win over Fox May 2. He smashed a home run, a double and three singles and drove in two runs. Four days later, he had two hits in four at bats, including a double, and another two RBIs to help the Lions defeat De Smet 5-1. Hartle also played varsity football last fall and competed in varsity wrestling over the winter.
