Addison Walden

Festus senior Addison Walden clears the bar in the pole vault at the McCullough-Douglass Invitational. Walden won the JCAA championship in the event in 3.42 meters on Wednesday at Hillsboro High.

The Jefferson County Activities Association boys and girls track and field championships began Wednesday and conclude today (April 30) at Hillsboro High. Field events begin at 3:30 p.m. Track events start at 4.

After the first day of competition, the defending JCAA champions from Festus lead the girls with 76 points and the boys with 54. The Tiger girls are the defending Class 4 state champions. The Tiger boys won the state title in 2023, and have finished seventh and fifth the past two years.

Festus senior Carson Driemeier won the conference 800-meter run in a PR of 1:55.66, and he won the 1,600 in 4:20.19. Signed to run at Iowa State University, Driemeier has the fastest time (4:10.92) in the 1,600 in the state this year.
