The 6-1 senior forward followed her all-state softball season by igniting a 62-30 Hawks win on the basketball court against Lesterville in Hillsboro’s season opener on Nov. 18. Close, who led the Hawks last season with 14.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, made 11 of 21 shots from the field and scored a game-high 29 points. She was a force defensively as well, with six steals, six defensive rebounds (eight total) and two blocked shots.
