The junior pitcher threw a no-hitter in a 3-0 victory against De Soto in the Class 5 District 1 tournament in Festus on May 20. Happel improved to 6-1 this season after he fanned 10 Dragons and walked three in 99 pitches. He also hit a home run in the first inning to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. In a 4-3 win over Sikeston in the first round of districts, Happel scored the game-winning run from third base on a wild pitch in the third inning. For the season Happel leads Windsor with four home runs, 27 RBIs and has fanned 67 batters in 46 1/3 innings. “Austin is really good at situational baseball,” Windsor head coach Randy Green said. “He knows how hitters want to hit. He’ll change his arm angle to get the edge. He pumps strikes and works fast.”
