The 2017 Jefferson graduate played a major role in Post 253’s American Legion District 13 championship with his fielding, batting and pitching. Prater, who plays center field, pitched the final two scoreless innings and hit his first home run of the season in a 6-2 victory over Rock Memorial on July 11. Two nights later, he fired a complete game in a 9-1 win over top-seeded Ste. Genevieve. Prater, who was hit by three pitches in the championship Saturday against Bonne Terre Post 83, finished the tournament six for 10 at the plate with eight runs scored.
