Zeda Mae Roth, 93, of Herculaneum died April 15, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Roth was the retired owner/operator of Roth Automotive in Crystal City and a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, collecting glass vases, figurines, and glassware. She also loved photography and the St. Louis Cardinals. Born Feb. 15, 1929, in Crystal City, she was the daughter of the late Grace Mae (Statler) and Joseph P. “Dode” Laiben. She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard L. “Bud” Roth.
She is survived by a daughter: Susan (Kent) Lerbs of Oakville; a sister: Ruth Ann (the late Charles) Becker; five grandchildren: Brittany (Todd) Coleman, Christopher Roth, Jacob Richard Roth, Donnie (Amy) Eckrich and Nicole (Mike) Blaylock; and nine great-grandchildren: Easton Coleman, Jayden Milfelt, Halie Coleman, Zoey Mae Roth, Ethan Eckrich, Evan Eckrich, Ellie Eckrich, Ezakial Blaylock and Zander Blaylock.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Steven Richard Roth and Michael (the late Vicki) Roth; a sister: Gladys (the late James) Cook; and four brothers: Bernard “Barney” (Linda survives of Hematite) Laiben, Henry A. Laiben, Fred (Joyce survives of Festus) Laiben and Robert Joseph “Bob” (June survives of Festus) Laiben.
Visitation is scheduled from 8:30-9:30 am. Friday, April 22, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main St., in Festus. Funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, officiated by Father Matthew Cheruparambil. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City.
