Wilma Delois Lay-Prosser, 80, of De Soto died May 2, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Lay-Prosser was a member of the De Soto First Assembly of God. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and traveling, especially to beaches. Born Oct. 28, 1939, in Truman, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Georgia (Wright) Brewer-Burns and Daniel Brewer.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Melvin R. Lay Sr. and William F. Prosser Sr.
She is survived by three sons: Melvin R. Lay Jr. of French Village, James (Lisa) Lay of Heidenheimer, Texas, and David (Emily) Prosser of Crystal City; four daughters: Deborah Bequette of De Soto, Terry (Tim) Glore of Festus, Linda Dunn of Herculaneum and Jeanne (Carl) Reeves of Festus; three brothers: Don (Diane) Carmon of Florida, Bobby (June) Burns of Marmaduke, Ark., and Billy (Landa) Burns of Oklahoma; a nephew: Danny Hanners of Michigan; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Carl Brewer; two sisters: Agnes Hanners and Jeanne Carmon; and a grandson: Carl Jason Lay.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., De Soto. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Derek Jones. Burial will be at Peaceful Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
