William “Bill” Tripp, 91, of Farmington died May 17, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Tripp, a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army, retired after many years as a plumber for State Hospital #4 in Farmington. He was a member of Apostolic Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church of Farmington. He enjoyed fishing at Bismarck Lake or Council Bluffs, gardening and spending time with family and friends, especially sitting down for a piece of lemon or chocolate pie and coffee. Born April 25, 1932, he was the son of the late George and LeVada (Stevens) Tripp. He was preceded in death by his wife: Maggie Tripp.
He is survived by five children: Kay (Steve) Schmitt, David (Mary) Tripp, Steven Tripp, Stanley (Kathryn) Tripp and Lisa (Joe) Tripp; eight grandchildren: Brian (Diane) Schmitt, Andy (Amanda) Schmitt, Jennifer (Brian) Hayes, David (Kristi) Tripp Jr., Alan Tripp, Christina Tripp, William “Billy” (Kirsten) Cook and Courtney Cook; two siblings: Peggy (Glen) Phillips and Lloyd “Jim” Tripp; and his longtime best friend: Mary Pipkens. He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert “Bob” Tripp; a sister: Thelma Stanfill; and a daughter-in-law: Gwen Tripp.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, May 22, at Cozean Memorial Chapel, 217 West Columbia St., in Farmington, officiated by Pastor Nathaniel Molter. Burial with full military honors is in the Fredericktown Christian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice Care. Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel.
