William Leroy Hulvey, 77, of Birch Tree, formerly of Jefferson County, died March 27, 2019. Mr. Hulvey was a Crystal City High School graduate who worked as a certified machinist, an over-the-road truck driver, and a small engine repair guru. He was a people person, never met a stranger and had many friends in the Crystal City area. Born April 9, 1941, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late William and Frances (Stark) Hulvey.
He is survived by two sons, William Mark (fiancée Denise) Hulvey of Fulton and Perry James (Tammy) Hulvey of Birch Tree; a daughter-in-law: Tina Hulvey of Mountain View; a brother: Charles Richard (Iris) Hulvey of Bonne Terre; three sisters: Phylis (Mark) Pollock of Washington, Brenda Messmer of Crystal City and Marilyn (Chuck) Baggett of Union; six grandchildren: Sarah, Brandon, Brent, Amber, Amelia and Ashton; and 10 great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Landon, Aurora, Clinton, Gunner, Ivy, Avery, Lakota, Wade and Bevan.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Alberta Marie; a son: Dean Hulvey; and a great-grandson: Brandon Jr.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Yarber Mortuary Chapel, 621 E. Fifth St., in Mountain View, officiated by Pastor Edwin Woolsey. Burial is in the Oak Forest Cemetery in Birch Tree. Arrangements are under the direction of Yarber Mortuary.
