Henry, William

William Joseph “Bill” Henry, 83, of De Soto died April 4, 2022, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Henry was a retired project superintendent for BSI Constructors and a member of Carpenters Local 2214 for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960. In his younger years he enjoyed running, fishing, softball and hunting with friends and family. In his later years he switched to baseball, bull riding, skiing and many other sports he could watch on television from his recliner. He loved to visit with friends and family and would often say "no need to rush off" and mean it. His greatest joy in life was serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in any way he could. He used his construction experience with B.U.D.D. Builders Missionary Construction out of Graceville, Fla., building an orphanage in New Mexico and many other trips. He served in the prison ministry in Potosi and  served many year in his local church, First Baptist Church of De Soto, as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for hundreds. He was born Sept. 18, 1938, in De Soto, the son of the late Clayton M. and Virginia (Sansoucie) Henry.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years: Jackie (Keller) Henry; two children: Clayton (Linda) Henry and Terri (Ron) Starwalt, both of De Soto; four grandchildren: Virginia "Ginny" (Robbie) Wills of Cadet, Andrew Joseph "AJ" (Tosha) Whitter of Sikeston, Patrick (Jamie) Henry of De Soto and Nicholas (Taylor) Henry of De Soto; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by many close friends

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Gene Smith. Burial will follow in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of De Soto building fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
