
William Gary Martin, 79, of Barnhart died June 10, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Martin was a foreman for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Barnhart office for 32 years and he served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid woodworker, shed and barn builder, and participated in many craft fairs. He enjoyed rock collecting, especially arrowheads. Born Jan. 20, 1942, in Marble Hill, he was the son of the late Gladys Mae (Welker) and Paul Linus Martin.
He is survived by his wife: Priscilla (Liebig) Martin; three sons: Michael (Celestia) Martin of Herculaneum, Bill (Andrea) Martin of Barnhart and George Martin of Barnhart; a daughter: Michelle Jurman of Florida; six grandchildren: Paige (Bryan Pippins) Martin, Tanner Martin, Ursula Perano, Kadence Martin, Willow Jurman and Natasha Jurman; two great-granddaughters: Daisey Martin and Lainey Pippins; two sisters: Shirley Eakers of Marble Hill and Bonnie Haynes of Anna, Ill.; and a brother: Michael Lincoln of Marble Hill.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy King and Donna Burkman; four brothers: Charles “Larry” Martin, Roger Lincoln, Paul D. Lincoln and Ronnie Lincoln; and two brothers-in-law: Terry Eakers and Doc Haynes.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 16, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely, immediately followed by funeral services. Burial will be in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
