William Dale “Bill” Bollinger, 85, of Festus died April 6, 2021, at his home. Mr. Bollinger owned and operated Bollinger Painting. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 3777, American Legion Post 253, the Festus-Crystal City Elks and the Plattin Rock Boat Club. He enjoyed NASCAR, boating, yard work, and his cat, Socks. Born Feb. 4, 1936, in Festus, he was the son of the late Dale Edward and Ruth Viola (Duvall) Bollinger.
He is survived by his girlfriend: Ellyn Brown; two daughters: Lora (Michael) Barnes of Festus and Sheri (Dennis Schumer Jr.) Bollinger Young of Festus; and six grandchildren: Joshua and Logan (Michael Keeler) Young, Alexander (Haley Martin) and Caroline Barnes and Bryce and Gabrielle Schumer.
He was preceded in death by his longtime girlfriend: Mildred “Millie” Rigger; a sister: Patricia (the late Everette) Potter; and an infant grandson: Hunter Schumer.
Private services. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Stray Haven Feline Rescue, P.O. Box 190586, in St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus.
