William “Bill” James McCabe, 65, Cedar Hill

William “Bill” James McCabe, 65, of Cedar Hill died March 15, 2021. Mr. McCabe was a volunteer firefighter for the Cedar Hill Fire Department for several years. He also was a salesman, selling rubber to mines and quarries for 43 years. He was known for his outgoing personality and was affectionately called “the mayor of Cedar Hill. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Elks Lodge. His hobbies included softball, bowling, golfing, grilling, dirt track races and spending time with his family. He had a passion for his Corvettes. He played baseball in the Cedar Hill Khoury League for several years. He also bowled two perfect 300 games and was a member of the Jefferson County Bowling Hall of Fame. He also hit a one “hole-in-one” and one endangered bird. Born Dec. 28, 1955, in Galesburg, Ill., he was the son of the late Jim and Evelyn (Bauer) McCabe.

He is survived by his wife: Angela, whom he married in September 1979, as well as three daughters: Ashley (Steve Lalumondiere) McCabe, Nicole (Kyle) Oliver and Molly (Joe) Tucker; five grandchildren: Jason, Landon, Aubrey, Joey (JT) and Violet; a sister Mary (Ray) Clark; an aunt: Joan; two uncles: John Cavagna and Charless (Marjorie) Fowlkes; a father-in-law: Bob McGraw: a sister-in-law: Terry (Kevin Peyton) Patterson; three brothers-in-law: Bobby (Debbie) Bennett, Darin (Tammy) Bennett and Thatcher Bennett; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral services at 5 p.m. Saturday (March 20) at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. The family requests that attendees wear their favorite golf shirt. Memorials may be made to Northwest Athletic Association, 6098 Country Creek Drive, House Springs, 63051, or Cedar Hill Fire Protection District, 6766 Cedar Hill Road, Cedar Hill, 63016. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
